Welcome back to Neamh’s Kitchen!
Today I’m not showing you a recipe but bringing you something different. This blog post is no the first to the How-To Series but it is the first that I claimed it with the title. This is on how to make your strawberries last. Strawberries are one of those fruits that last good only 1-2 days then they start to get bad. I looked up many different ways to keep strawberries last but none happened to work until I came across Jaime’s Simple Life on YouTube. I’ve done this method about 6 times before finally deciding to share it because lots of people don’t know about this. I do this every time I get strawberries and they last 2-3x longer this way. I usually get strawberries before doing a baking ‘project’ and this method helps me keep them looking and tasting delicious as they would fresh. I would recommend everyone who isn’t able to get fresh strawberries every day, like me, to try this when they get them and tell me if you like this method down below!
How To: Make Strawberries Last
Total Time: 12 minutes
What You’ll Need:
- 1 pound of strawberries
- 1 1⁄2 cups water
- 1⁄2 cup vinegar
- Bowl
- Towel
- Paper Towels
Directions:
- In a bowl, mix together the water and vinegar into a bowl.
- Place your strawberries into the bowl for 10 minutes.
- Pour the water out and rinse them off with cold water.
- Carefully, pat dry your strawberries with the towel, making sure they’re completely dry.
- Line the bottom of your strawberry container with a paper towel then carefully place them trying not to overlap them.
- Place another paper towel layer and continue stacking them flatly.
- When finished, finish with a paper towel. You can eat these right away or save these for a couple days!
